The biomes were changed recently after multiverse was removed, or some time around then. I checked the Minecraft wiki's discussion page on biomes, and there's a part about changing biomes (www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Talk:Biomes#Changing_biome). Basically it sates that a changed seed can mess with the biomes and sure enough, the seed for Hotel has been changed. The current one is 8980577631024071409, while the original one is -3602406974872498513. I believe that if Tbob can edit the map so it has it's original string, the old biomes will come back.
Looks like a jello mold.
I miss the years bygone, where Creative was the core of a once great group. Where the servers were constant and friends many. But how much remains? How much of what this group once was still exists?

I've renamed and moved this article instead of outright deleting it because it may hold some merit. I'll talk with you guys in chat today about its fate.
I finally got around to properly updating MCLawl and that damnable MySQL, and we now have a working creative server under the name of The SCP Foundation. I'll try to keep it on, since I'm running it as a Windows Service on my computer. The bad news is that the WoM client doesn't seem to be working anymore, and it won't let me see the server list. The address for the server (as far as I can find it) is http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?server=c1b1553e59106d5aa159c8b1f887c8d4. So far the only names I've got in for ranks are myself and teaflower, since I cannot remember a lot of other names. It's also been stuck in the topic for the channel since I know nobody checks this site. So far I've only bothered to make one map outside the flatgrass main. Called Highlands, 256^3 mountains.
Too bad notch didn't get the over+nether server finished in time, eh?
Halloween Update at 6 PM Eastern. Hope everyone's ready for a a journey to hell. I already have portals on both servers

I won't be posting up the IP. Just the concept.

I can't be the only one that thinks advertising the server is a bad idea, we'll end up getting griefed.

Hey guys, basically I would like some pics, videos, or what have you of the FF map.
I'll be putting them together in an article and posting them up on reddit.com/r/minecraft and the minecraft forums
I need:
-Artsy images of the map.
-Places, things, etc.
-Any major places.
-Anything else you guys think up of.
Cheers and thanks, folks!

If we can get working mob spawners, all the better. Each room might get one (with an extra one or two added for the next one down) if mob spawning doesn't work as well as hoped.
As for diamonds in FF, I found two on the weekend. They're really rare, not nonexistent. Though with all the people we have, it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of them were simply mined right away.
Even under the condition that we can't get working mob spawners, such a building work be really nice for tournament pvp, while the roof would be free-for all.
since monsters spawn only in darkness, the whole thing would probably have to be lit by redstone torches, and when we don't want monsters, we could simply light all the rooms up.
if anyone has creative suggestions for floors B4 and B5 other than my "ZOMG MOB SPAWNERS" idea, I'd love to hear them. As a side thought, I could also build it out of adminium, and thus have creeper spawners without worrying about structural damage, or griefers mucking up the building somehow.

And that is why tbob has a map editor. Also so he could take all the diamonds so only people with /give access can have them. (At least, I was told that's why I can't find any diamond ore even in the depth range they should be in.)
One Caveat. You can't place working mob spawners.
Other than that, it sounds good.
So, here's the thing: I want to try and start a project, specifically a place where monsters can spawn in darkness and be fought by anyone willing to tackle the challenge. This will take place in an underground tower, consisting of five rooms, 50x50x5 blocks each, the upper two blocks being a viewing area (with a floor as the middle block) so that the most possible space is conserved with this. It could be made above ground, but that would require over 1,000 blocks per floor, and that's just too damn many- It'd be easier to just dig downwards. I did research to how mobs spawn, and for those interested: They can't spawn within ~30 blocks of the player, nor can they spawn ~70 away. Thus we need really big rooms.
The surface floor will be the first room, and the main entrance. It will be pretty simple and basically just be a stone-walled section of dirt.
Floor B1 will be the Wood Room, with a floor of lumber.
B2 will have a few mini-rooms in it (maybe, depends on how well it can be seen) or perhaps a maze.
B3 will have a series of narrow passages over small pits with lava in them, getting knocked down will cost you your life-but the same applies to monsters.
B4 Will have a zombie spawner in it if possible, to add to the mass of monsters.
B5 Will have two spawners, skeletons and spiders, and is the last room.
B6 is a small room with treasure in it, for whoever makes it past all the monsters alive.
Victory in a room is won on either of two conditions: killing the monsters in the room, and lighting it up so that no more can appear, or killing a certain number of monsters, dependent on the room. Obviously the tower won't work in current SMP's form, since we're all invincible, but once it works properly this would be a neat challenge.
Before I start this obviously HUGE project, I want to know if people will like it. So, just post here what you think. If it works out well, I'll also need a place in the Feudalism Friday map to make it, a large emptiness to work with that doesn't have anyone's mines under it. I'll also make a waypoint with the runecraft mod on the server and place that near spawn so it is easily accessed.
in discussion Game Modes / Survival Multiplayer » Fuedelism Fridays on SCPSMP!
Well, it's the second Feudalism Friday, and I'm still confused about what the FF-specific rules actually are. I know the regular rules, like No Griefing and such, but what limitations are there on joining factions? building houses (besides not destroying someone else's house to do so)? communal mines? It'd be nice to have stuff cleared up a bit, because right now FF seems like Regular SMP BUT SLIGHTLY MORE ORGANIZED! (Wikidot needs an [[AC:text]] tag!)
I really hope Notch gets SMP fixed soon, because I can't use bucket (and from what I remember someone saying in-game, SCPers = ops won't kick in until SMP is fixed.)
No one emailed me, so I uploaded the maps to the maps page. Someone can host them, I'm turning the computer off tomorrow.
Please direct all complaints about the behaviour of my vikings to me. I will do what I can to rectify the situation.
